Three Goals of Children's Ministry:

  1. Serve parents by freeing them up to attentively hear the preaching of the word during our weekly services (morning and evening).

  2. Provide a safe environment for our children while their parents are in the service.

  3. Systematically teach our children the gospel of Jesus Christ.

FAQ

1. Does SPBC Children’s Ministry use a particular curriculum?

Yes! We use Lifeway’s Gospel Project for Kids.

The Gospel Project is a chronological Bible study that examines how all Scripture gives testimony to Jesus Christ. Over the course of three years, our children will journey from Genesis to Revelation and discover how God’s plan of redemption unfolds throughout Scripture and still today, compelling them to join the mission of God. With The Gospel Project, our children will be immersed in the gospel through:

  • Christ-centered Study that helps children understand how all Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, gives testimony to Jesus Christ.

  • Chronological Study Plan that shows how the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story— God’s story of redemption.

  • Missional Application that examines how the gospel encourages and empowers us to be mission driven.

  • Essential Doctrines that help children grasp the theological truths and central themes of the Christian faith.

2. What is provided for babies and toddlers?

  • Sunday School Nursery: 9:30 – 10:15am (drop off at 9:15)

  • Main Service Nurseries: 10:30 – 12pm (drop off at 10:15)

  • Evening Service Nursery: 6 – 7pm (drop off at 5:45)

3. What is provided for preschool and young kids?

  • Sunday School Classes (9:30 – 10:15am)

    • 3-5 year olds

    • 6-8 year olds

    • 9-10 year olds

  • Main Service (Children 8 and under are dismissed from service before the sermon)

    • Large Group Singing/Teaching time for Preschool – Young Kids

    • Dismiss from large group into age-segregated classes

      • Preschool

      • Young Kids: 5-6 year olds

      • Young Kids: 7-8 year olds

  • Evening Service Classes (6 - 7pm)

    • Preschool

    • Young Kids: 4-6 year olds

    • Young Kids: 7-10 year olds

4. When do young kids leave the service and where do they go?

Young kids attend the morning service until they are dismissed to the Gospel Project. During the final song before the sermon, you can escort your child (8 and under) to the fellowship hall to drop them off for their Gospel Project class.

Children 3 to 8 years old gather in the fellowship hall for a large group teaching time, where the children will sit together according to their age. This large group time includes videos, songs, Bible reading and Bible teaching time. This time lasts anywhere from 20-30 minutes.

When the large group time concludes, their teacher escorts the children to their age-appropriate classroom. In their classroom time, they hear more teaching and complete fun activities reinforcing the Gospel Project material.

You will pick up your child, after the service, from their classroom.

5. When I arrive, how do I check in my child(ren)?

Check in is very easy! When you arrive, you can approach the welcome desk and let a volunteer know that you’re new. They’d be glad to help!

OR you can hang a left into the children’s wing and check in yourself using one of the computers there. You’ll just type in some basic info, click “done” and you’ll received a printed sticker to place on your child’s back.
