Mike McKinley was raised in suburban Philadelphia. He received a B.A. in Religion and Classics from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and an M.Div from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. In 2004, Mike was brought onto the pastoral staff at Capitol Hill Baptist Church as a church planter. In 2005, he brought a small group of people from CHBC to Guilford Baptist Church in order to help revitalize the church’s ministry. He served as Guilford’s pastor until 2013, when Guilford merged with Sterling Park Baptist Church, where he now serves as Senior Pastor. Mike has been married to Karen since 1997, and they have five beautiful children: Kendall, Knox, Phineas, Ebenezer, and Harper. In his free time, Mike loves to spend time with his family, reading all kinds of books, and daydreaming about the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mike is a genuine “scouser” who grew up in Liverpool, England. When Mike left school he went to live in Seattle to work with young people in local churches. When he came back to England he studied at Capernwray Bible School, where he met his future wife, Heidi (who, believe it or not, is from Seattle!). Mike and Heidi have been married since 2009 and have two children, Ariella and Isaiah. Previously, Mike had been working as the Ministry Intern at Aigburth Community Church in Liverpool. However, in 2014 he joined us at SPBC to be our Pastoral Assistant and also attend Reformed Theological Seminary (MDiv). He’s now our Assistant Pastor, focusing most of his attention on men’s ministry and youth. Outside of church life, Mike is a Walt Disney World enthusiast, a passionate fan of Liverpool Football Club, and a lover of the great outdoors.

Marty.jpg

Marty Clock

Non-staff elder

Marty Clock was born in Dallas, Texas, went to school in Boston (Boston University), and moved to the DC area shortly after. He accepted Christ at an early age, after a gospel presentation by his Sunday School teacher followed by questions and discipleship with his mother. He met his wife at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in the College & Career Class (it was the only open seat – God had plans!) and had three children before joining the church plant at then-Guilford Baptist Church in 2005 (he’s since added a fourth). The opportunities for service, emphasis on missions, as well as the personal application of the Gospel to every aspect of life drew him and keep him excited about serving. He enjoys reading science fiction/fantasy and spending time being a husband to Barb and a father to Benjamin, Eileanóra, William and Nathanael.

Tarun.jpg

Tarun Nallabelli

Non-staff elder

*Tarun is currently enjoying a regularly-scheduled sabbatical.

Tarun was born and raised in Hyderabad, India in a Christian environment. He became a Christian during his Undergrad as he firmly believed that only in Jesus Christ he could be forgiven of his sins and have a new relationship with God. His relationship with God became stronger after he moved to Virginia in 2004 to pursue his Masters. Since graduating in 2007 he has been able to find employment in the DC metro area in various IT companies. Tarun has been married to Angelene since 2010 and they are blessed with two boys Levi and Judah. Tarun and Angelene joined Guilford Baptist Church (now Sterling Park) in 2012.The Nallabellis strongly believe that the Gospel centered teaching and personal relationships formed at Sterling Park have been of immeasurable help in their spiritual growth. They love and enjoy having friends, neighbors and family over for some nice Indian food and some Gospel flavored conversations.

Scott.jpg

Scott Welch

Non-staff elder

Scott is one of the few—and proud—to have lived in the Washington, DC area his entire life. He attended the University of Maryland, studying architecture, and attending as many college basketball and football games as possible. He met his lovely wife Jen while serving as Bible study leaders for the high school youth group of a local church, and they have been blessed with two beautiful children. Scott and his family began attending Sterling Park Baptist Church in the spring of 2014, where the expositional preaching, and fellowship with loving church members bring them great joy. Scott has always loved music—singing in choirs, a cappella groups, and his car for as long as he can remember. When not working at an architectural firm in Maryland, Scott enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating pizza, visiting theme parks, and watching his snake-bit local sports teams.

Will G.jpg

Will Glaser

Non-staff elder

Will Glaser grew up in rural Oregon and trusted in Christ at a young age. He first attended Guilford Baptist during his senior year at Patrick Henry College. After law school in California and two years living in New Mexico, Will and his wife Natalie jumped at the chance to return to the DC area and Guilford Baptist, which they joined in 2013, just as it was merging with Sterling Park. Will has been so grateful for the church’s gospel preaching and gospel culture, both of which have helped him immensely in his Christian walk. Will and Natalie have three beautiful daughters who keep them entertained and humbled. In his spare time, Will enjoys hunting, being outdoors, smoking meat, and spending time with his family.
